Skyrim Steel Greatsword Prop

I was working on an outfit in 2022 from Skyrim, and figured make this as my weapon. I worked with game artwork and screenshots to scale it to myself ( 185 cm tall for both me and the sword), and started the design in Fusion 360. I went with a 2D profile cut of the blade which would be laser cut from 6mm MDF on a laser cutter. These parts would be flattened, reinforced with multiple layers of fiberglass to stiffen it up, and then recut the blade bevels to ensure the correct shape. Once the core was formed, I used fusion 360 to then make the blade guards and detail work, which was epoxied in place over the MDF core. This would then be filled/sanded with dupli-color spray paints to ensure a metallic finish. The painted blade would then be brushed with graphite powder to enhance the shine, and the grip covered with leather salvaged from an old couch.
Weathering was done with a combination of an airbrush for gentle shading, and acrylic paints to do the grime/rust shades
